The police have denied these reports, confirming that the image is actually from a music video and not a real arrest, contradicting earlier widespread claims.
In an official statement, the police clarified:
“POLICE HAVE NOT ARRESTED SERWAA AMIHERE
The Ghana Police Service has not arrested Serwaa Amihere. Our investigation indicates that the picture circulating online is from a music video.
We, therefore, urge the public to disregard this misinformation and disinformation.”
The viral photo, which showed Serwaa Amihere being held by two uniformed officers while crying, sparked significant attention on social media.
Many were shocked and concerned, believing that the media personality had been apprehended.
