Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has sadly taken to social media to announce the passing of his mother, Antionette Ama Ampomah Dumelo.
The multiple award-winning actor and farmer revealed that he lost his mother on August 15, 2023.
In his emotional message, he conveyed the profound sadness he felt due to the sudden loss of his beloved mother.
He also mentioned that she had peacefully passed away and that she had become an angel in heaven.
“My heart is broken. My dear mother passed away peacefully yesterday….my number one supporter. Heaven has gained an angel” – he wrote.
Additionally, John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon in the 2024 elections, shared cherished photos of his mother and the precious moments they had shared.
The passing of his mother prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow Ghanaian celebrities, including Yvonne Nelson, Lydia Forson and others.
They took to social media to express their condolences and stand with John Dumelo during this difficult time.
While many are offering prayers for Dumelo and his family, some have raised questions about his decision to share the news on social media.
Among those expressing skepticism, Bongo Ideas questioned the timing and accused Dumelo of seeking attention and sympathy through this announcement on social media.
“Posting your parent after they’ve passed is subtly clout-chasing. Why are you using your mom’s passing to seek social media sympathy? – Bongo wrote in a twitter thread.

In another tweet, he also mentioned how GH Celebrities have previously claimed that social media users have little impact on their private lives, contrary to popular belief.
“These celebs always claim social media users have no bearing on their private lives, but they are quick to announce sad news. Is your mom’s passing not supposed to be another version of private matters?”
Netizens reacting to Bongo Ideas’s tweet have warned him to stay away from sensitive issues as it will definitely hunt him back one day.
@Mawulibills_ said “His mom’s picture will definitely be in the public, whether he post it or not so allow.
@bc_yogo commented “When you throw a ball to the wall it bounces back to you. Just keep it up.
