A footage from last season of Klopp telling Merseyside red fans to book hotels has resurfaced on the internet following Liverpool’s heavy defeat to Real Madrid (5-2).
The Reds were humiliated at Afield on Tuesday evening after going up 2-0 in the first 14 minutes thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.
Nunez scored his 11th goal of the season, while Salah took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to become Liverpool’s all-time leading European goalscorer. Vinicius Jr. scored twice in the first half, the second from an Alisson pass that went wrong, to keep the away side level at the break.
Madrid took the lead early in the second half thanks to Eder Militao’s header, and they never looked back. Liverpool’s defence crumbled as Karim Benzema added a brace of his own to give Real Madrid a three-goal lead back at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Liverpool has been defeated by Real Madrid for the second time in nine months. Last season, Carlo Ancelotti’s side defeated Liverpool in the Champions League final thanks to Vinicius Jr.’s second-half goal.
This is Liverpool’s heaviest defeat at Anfield since they never conceded four goals in a European match after Real Madrid scored five in the stadium.
However, after the game, Klopp spoke to BT Sports, where he made the comment and reflected on his team’s performance at the end of last season’s Champion League final have re-emerged after 5-2 defeat to Los Blancos.
The German coach expressed confidence that his team could reach the Champions League final this season.
“It’s not bad to get to the final – it’s kind of a success although not the success you want to have,” he said.
“I have a strong feeling we will come again. The boys are really competitive and are an outstanding group they will be that again next season. And we go again. Where’s it next season? Istanbul? Book the hotel!”

Many football fans and lovers have also taken to social media to use his own words against him, mocking the top-tier coach after they are humiliating defeat at Anfield by Real Madrid.
The return league of the round of 16 second showdown will take place on March 15 at 8 p.m. GMT at Bernabeu.
