Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, Dean of Students Affairs at the University of Ghana, Legon has issued a statement addressing the Legon Hall Week event following Shatta Wale’s accusation against Stonebwoy, blaming him for the show’s cancellation.
You may recall that Shatta Wale was featured in a series of videos ranting his disgust with Stonebwoy after his Reunion Rave or Artiste Night show was revoked.
The dancehall star claimed in the video that Stonebwoy sabotaged him, causing his event to be rescinded despite the fact that they had separate shows on the same campus.
“It was Stonebwoy who told the school’s management that they should cancel my concert or he would not perform,” Shatta Wale alleged in a TikTok video obtained by hellovybes on instagram.
His manager, Sammy Flex, allegedly added fuel to the fire, claiming that if Shatta appeared at the gig, school security would cause disruption.
In a twist turn of events, the Dean of Students Affairs wrote a letter announcing the cancellation of the concert, blaming the organisers as the cause.
According to the letter dated on 7th June, the cancellation occurred as the Dean of Students Affairs claimed to be unaware that the performance was one of the outlined programmes presented to them for approval.
“It has come to the notice of the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs that contrary to following the direction for the “TWO-DAY ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT” event, slated from 7th-8th June, 2024, the executives of the James Topp Nelson Yankah Hall have gone ahead to organize a program which was not part of the list of programs approved by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs”
It continued — “The Reunion Rave or the Artiste Night was not part of the program outline submitted by the ICR to the Office for approval, therefore the Reunion Rave or the Artiste Night has been cancelled with immediate effect”.
The letter also stated that anyone who goes against the continuation of Shatta Wale’s event will face severe punishments.
“Attached is the program outline and the flyer for the Reunion Rave or Artiste Night. Any breach of this directive would incur severe sanctions” — the statement said.
