Former Ghana Black Stars player, Michael Essien has completed his UEFA License A Coaching course.
Essien enrolled in a six-month programme for UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth A License certificates from the Football Association of Wales.
It is a residential course designed to provide opportunities for those with on-field experience to work as coaches in the professional game.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea player joined the Danish club Nordsjaelland as one of their first team assistant coaches after a brief stint with the Azerbaijani team Sabali FK in 2020 and his retirement from professional football,
the 40-year-old announced this on his Twitter page on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 indicating that he had now acquired the UEFA A License and thanking the Wales FA.

Essien, known for his static midfield display and wide range goals, became an integral part of every team he played for at the highest level since arriving in Europe.
He became Chelsea’s record signing in 2005, when the Premier League club paid Lyon £24.4 million to sign him.

He spent nearly a decade at Stamford Bridge, where he helped the Blues win the Premier League, FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
Essien joins a small group of Ghanaian footballers who have recently obtained coaching credentials, including Laryea Kingston and Asamoah Gyan.
