Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT’s parent company, OpenAI, just married his longtime male partner, Oliver Mulherin, in a beachside ceremony.
According to NBC, the couple’s marriage was made public when their wedding photos went viral on the internet.
The viral photos show the San Francisco couple in all-white clothes (which represents victory) and white sneakers, while beaming beautifully together and surrounded by about dozen close friends and wedding officiant who honoured the marriage at an undisclosed tropical location.
Altman, 38, a native of St. Louis, has usually kept a low public profile while gaining influence in the Tech industry as the CEO of Y Combinator, a renowned software company incubator and investment firm.
However, in his role as CEO of OpenAI, he increased his public appearances, including Congressional testimony, garnering him Time magazine’s “CEO of the Year” award for 2023.
Oliver Mulherin, an Australian software engineer, spends time with Altman in San Francisco and on a property in Napa, California according to The New York Times.
Last year, the pair attended a White House state dinner hosted by President Joe Biden for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Altman rose to notoriety as CEO of OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT. Under his leadership, OpenAI recently launched the GPT store, which acts as an app store for AI applications.
In 2015, Altman co-founded OpenAI as a nonprofit organisation with other tech luminaries, including Elon Musk. Despite a brief suspension by OpenAI’s board in November due to a power struggle, Altman quickly returned as CEO following a dramatic boardroom confrontation.
