Alleged Fetish Priest Shot During Arrest After Reported Assault on Palace Messenger in Western Region

A dramatic confrontation between police officers and a self-acclaimed fetish priest (traditional leader) in the Western Region ended with the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound to the hand after allegedly resisting arrest.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred at Agona Amenfi during preparations for the sod-cutting ceremony of a proposed maternity ward project.

The suspect fully armed with a cutlass is accused of assaulting a palace messenger at the Agona Amenfi Palace, an incident that reportedly prompted police intervention.

Witnesses say tensions escalated when officers attempted to apprehend the alleged fetish priest, who reportedly resisted arrest and claimed to possess supernatural powers capable of preventing his capture.

The standoff eventually turned violent, with police discharging a weapon and injuring the suspect in the hand.

The palace messenger who was allegedly attacked also sustained injuries during the earlier altercation.

Both individuals are currently receiving medical attention, while law enforcement authorities continue investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are yet to release an official statement detailing the events that led to the shooting despite video curculating online.
