Dr. Kofi Abban, CEO of Rigworld Group, has called out legendary musician Kojo Antwi for soliciting funds to help fund his late father’s funeral.
This comes after GoFundMe account was set up in the name of Kojo Antwi’s father, Opanin Kwadwo Asiama Asubonten, who died on January 2, 2023, at the age of 104 at the Police Hospital in Accra.
In reacting to Kojo Antwi’s post, Dr. Kofi Abban expressed his displeasure with the GoFundMe link shared on Twitter and told the highlife musician to sell some of his properties to help fund the funeral.
“Kojo Antwi is a complete joke!!! You want £1,000,000 to bury your late dad, Have you ever done a free concert for your loyal fans in Ghana ??? Sell three of your properties in Accra to fund your dads funeral,” Amoa-Abban tweeted in response to the GoFundMe link.
Per our independent checks on the GoFundMe link, Kojo Antwi created the crowdfunding to support orphans and disabled people with scholarships rather than his late father’s funeral.
“In memory of my late kind father, this GoFundMe is for scholarships and care for a selection of orphans and the disabled in Ghana from now up till they graduate or learn a trade. – With love and togetherness from The Maestro Kojo Antwi,” the description in the GoFundMe page reads.
Kojo Antwi has been in the Ghana music industry for over 30 years and is well-known for timeless songs such as Me “Nya Ntaban,”Medofo Pa”, “Afafanto,” “Dadie Anoma” among others.
In 2022 he released another two bangers “Kakayi and “Mfa Me Nkoho” and even was billed to perform in the United Kingdom concert in 2022 dubbed “Mr Music Man Kojo Antwi Live In London”
