Ghanaian Reggae-Dancehall star Shatta Wale has reportedly been arrested and detained by Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), according to multiple reports.
The first claim was made by Ibrah One, a multi millionaire businessman who shared the news in a Snapchat post on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The singer was detained and charged with alleged money laundering, possession of suspected criminal proceeds tax fraud and tax evasion.
His charges comes after the musician was invited to the EOCO headquarters few hours after showcasing his newly purchased $150k purple Lamborghini Urus.
His appearance reportedly comes amid an ongoing fraud investigation involving EOCO and the FBI.
Adding to the speculation, controversial blogger Bongo Ideas suggested on Twitter (X) that if the allegations are proven true, Shatta Wale could face serious legal allegations.
These may include the possible loss of his luxury cars, mansions, and businesses, restrictions on international travel, and even the freezing of his bank accounts.
Sources further claim the artist is currently under a form of house arrest, pending official confirmation from the authorities.

As at now EOCO has not issued an official statement and communique to confirm Shatta Wale’s arrest since it has remained diligent whiles the investigations are still ongoing.
Shatta Wale arrest by EOCO means he may lose his houses, cars, businesses, his bank accounts freezed, banned from international travels, placed under home arrest until investigations are over and probably sentenced if found guilty.
