Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has finally addressed his absence from Richard Nii-Armah Quaye’s extravagant birthday celebration, which took place last Saturday night.
In a live video session on Facebook, the SM Boss responding to rumors surrounding his omission from the star-studded event claims he chose oil over powder.
In the video, Shatta Wale could be seen applying powder to his face, a signature gesture he often uses during his rants.
He also boldly declared that he is a “principality” who cannot be intimidated by the music industry or its so-called power plays.
“You have been hearing about principality, and it is me—Shatta Wale. If they speak of the darkness of power, I am the one they are referring to,” Everybody likes oil but for me I chose oil — he jokingly stated.
He emphasizes that he cannot be intimidated by the industry’s gimmicks since he’s been through the mill and navigating challenges as an independent artist.
Was Shatta Wale Snubbed or Did He Reject a $500K Offer?
Reports suggest that Shatta Wale allegedly turned down a $500,000 performance fee from Richard Nii-Armah Quaye, choosing not to attend the event.
Another school of thought claims that he was deliberately left out due to his past controversial remarks about business mogul Dr. Kwame Despite, who is reportedly close to Quaye.
The event reportedly saw artists like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy earning $200,000, while Davido and Diamond Platnumz walked away with $500,000 and $600,000, respectively.
Shatta Wale’s latest remarks suggest that he remains unfazed by the industry’s politics, maintaining his stance as an independent artist who doesn’t bow to external pressures.
