Kwame A Plus, the MP for Gomoa Central, has recounted the advice that reggae-dancehall musician Shatta Wale gave him before to the election.
In a self-recorded video, A Plus, who is best known for addressing political and social issues, claimed that Shatta Wale helped him win the 2024 parliamentary election.
According to him, his interaction with Shatta Wale happened when he sought advise from the musician on his secret to his commanding and huge fanbase, which is similar to his influence.
He emphasises that Shatta Wale advised him to prioritise the needs of the angry youths by solving the problems for them, referencing Jesus Christ’s leadership style.
A Plus heaped on Shatta Wale by describing the multiple award-winning artist, as the wisest person he had ever met because of the valuable advice he offered him.
This follows A Plus’ victory after December 7, 2024 general elections where he defeated Naana Eiyah Quansah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Naana Eyiah, a two-term MP and Deputy Minister for the Interior lost her seat after securing 11,637 votes.
A Plus won with 14,277 votes, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ywason Mohamed, came third with 10,112 votes out of the 36,026 valid votes cast.
This victory marked A Plus’s first entry into Parliament as an independent candidate. He has since announced his alignment with the NDC, citing their plans and leadership as reasons for his decision, yen.com also reports.
