Almost two years after its release on digital streaming platforms, Shatta Wale’s single ‘On God’ perked at Number 35 position on the Billboard US Afrobeats Chart.
The song which was released in 2022 on 5th April debuted on the electronic music ranking system following Shatta Wale’s recent performance in Jamaica.
For the past week, the singer has been dominated online after his energetic and oustanding performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert.
The record gained a lot of attention from Jamaica and other parts of the world due to its infectious lyrics that appealed to the audience after Shatta Wale’s gig, which impacted its debut.
In addition to ‘On God’, his 2019 collaboration song ‘Already’ ft. Beyoncé had the most streams from Kingston (Jamaica’s capital), followed by Montego, where the Freedom Street Concert was held.
Since its release on YouTube, the ‘On God’ song, which includes an official music video, has received over 12 million streams.
On Billboard, the song ‘On God’ competes with other tunes from Wikid’s ‘Time’ and Naira Marley’s ‘Pxy Drip’, which are at Nos. 33 and 34, respectively.
In reaction to the song’s Billboard success, fans praised Shatta Wale for travelling to Jamaica for a purpose, unlike his colleagues who normally there for pictures and perform for peanuts.
