Showboy, a Ghanaian rapper and socialite, has been arrested by the Ghana Police after refusing to be arrested during a house raid by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials.
According to the report, Showboy was apprehended on Tuesday, February 3, 2025 in Accra for alleged Blackmail Mail-related activities and harassment charges against Ghanaian music executive, David Mensah, also known as Davido Gh.
His detention comes a few days after the musician denied committing any crime and questioned the authorities’ actions during their house raid to arrest him while on TikTok live.
He was seen struggling with them after a series of confrontations, stating that the officers operated without a court warrant, which was the reason for refusing to go with them.
Despite all the effort and failure to put him behind bars, ShowBoy went on to criticise the CID, accusing it of losing credibility.
ShowBoy whose real name is Sam Safo, had previously escaped arrest and is now in police custody following an allegation of extortion and persecution.
His arrest is accompanied by a viral video in which the artist is shown looking distressed while being handcuffed at the back.

During the interrogation, ShowBoy was heard indicating he is a psychiatric patient and asked the police to get medication from his doctor.
ShowBoy has been involved in a number of high-profile cases, including an FBI arrest in 2019 for stabbing a fellow Ghanaian celebrity, Junior US.
He was released from a US prison and deported to Ghana in 2023, after spending six years.
As at the time of reporting, no official charges have been filed against Showboy as authorities are currently undergoing investigations of the matter.
Davido Gh on the other hand is yet to address or speak about what caused Showboy’s detention, as many people are inquisitive about the details of the case.
