Ghanaians praised Dede Ayew on social media for getting Ghana out of the World Cup following Brazil’s win over South Korea on Monday, December 5.

On Monday, December 5th, Brazil defeated South Korea 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Qatar World Cup, leaving many wondering if the Samba Boys will take home the Cup following their stellar performance from the start of the tournament.

However, in sending an appreciation message to Andre Ayew, netizens excitedly trended “Thank You Dede Ayew” on Twitter as they praised the Black Stars captain for missing a penalty and thus eliminating Ghana from the World Cup in order to prevent the team from meeting Brazil in the quarterfinals.

A tweep with username @unrulyking00 wrote: Thank you Dede Ayew for missing the penalty. Like by now Ghana Black Stars would be drinking all these goals from Brazil.

Another tweep with username @michaelAdvans also commented : “The Dede Ayew penalty miss was a plan thing just to evade Brazil and nobody absolutely nobody can tell me otherwise

According to some Ghanaians,  if the Ghana team were to advance to the next stage and meeting Brazil in the quarterfinal stage would have been disastrous and a disgrace for the entire team because they would have conceded at least 7 goals.

Journalist Bongo Ideas also tweeted ; “They also stated that the current Black Stars squad cannot compete with the top flight and favorite teams to win the World Cup.
