Ghanaian Guinness world record contender Afua Asantewaa, has clarified that she received no material rewards from the government after her first sing-a-thon attempt, contrary to rumors.
In a recent interview with Nana Romeo, Afua Asantewaa refuted claims that she received cars and an apartment from the erstwhile government.
According to the multiple failed Guinness World Record attempter, the only thing she received was medicine to cure her sore throat from the former vice president, Dr. Bawumia.
She added that although she heard around that organizations have come through to support her with gifts during the contest, she has not received any of such items.
This follows report of Afua Asantewaa allegedly to have received numerous gifts from the former veep Bawumia despite having unsuccessful Sing-a-thon event.
During her initial Guinness World Record Singathon, Bawumia appeared to offer moral support in a bid to earn Ghanaians’ votes.
However, Asantewaa has now shaded Bawumia and the entire NPP, claiming to she had not received numerous presents from them despite many people assumed.
Meanwhile, Asantewaa who had her first Singathon unsuccessful began the second attempt on December 21 and completed it after six days, in an effort break the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
The journey took place at Kumasi’s Heroes Park Annexe and lasted 121 hours and 39 minutes of singing.
The young entrepreneur hopes to break India’s Sunil Waghmare’s Guinness World Record of 105 hours set in 2012.
