Katia Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, has described the Qatar 2022 World Cup “the worst tournament ever” in a new social media post following Argentina’s World Cup victory
On Sunday, December 18, 2022, Argentina defeated France in the World Cup finals in Qatar, prompting Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister to deem the tournament the worst of all time.
The 45-year-old was one of the former Manchester United forward’s family members who were upset with Coach Santos after he benched their Superstar brother in a match against Morocco in which they were eliminated by the North African side in the quarterfinals.
Initially, Elma Aveiro, another Ronaldo’s sister, had urged him to leave the tournament and come home claiming to have humiliated by the Portuguese manager, and she doesn’t understand why Santos left the 37-year-old out of his starting XI despite the team winning 6-1 against Switzerland in the round of 16.
However, Katia Aveiro in a social media post wrote : ‘The worst World Cup of all time… that thankfully gave us a great final. What a match. Congratulations to Argentina.’
In addition, Katia who did not congratulate Lionel Messi for his new feat went further to praise French wonder star Kylian Mbappe for his outstanding performance against Argentina in the final, where he scored eight goals to edge out the former Barcelona legend for the Golden Boot award, she wrote: ‘Kylian Mbappe. This boy is unreal. What a bright future awaits you. Incredible.’
