Tina Turner was a Swiss-born American singer, dancer, actress and author dubbed  the “Queen of Rock n Roll”. She rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before embarking on a  successful solo career.

Turner began her career in 1957 with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm. In 1958 she released her first single “Boxtop” under the name Little Ann. Tina Turner made her debut as Tina Turner in 1960 with her classic duet “A Fool in Love”. Ike and Tina Turner have established themselves as “one of the most memorable live acts in history”. Turner launched “one of the greatest comebacks in music history” in the 1980s. During her Break Every Rule World tour in 1988, she set a Guinness World Record (180,000) for the largest paying audience for a single artist at the time.

Turner also appeared in the films Tommy (1975) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985). Turner, whose real name is Anna May Brock, was born on November 26, 1970 in Brownsville, Tennessee, to her parents Floyd Richard Bullock and Zelma Priscilla (née Currie). Tina’s family lived in Nutbush, Tennessee. In a nearby unincorporated rural village, her father worked as a tenant supervisor a Poindexter farm off Highway 180. Tina married her late ex-husband Ike Tuner in 1962 and divorced in 1978 after 16 years together. In 2013 she remarried Erwin Bach and became her legal husband before his death.
