A family in Effia Kuma, Takoradi, is appealing for public assistance after two brothers, Sule and Mumuni, reportedly went missing nearly 10 years ago while attempting to travel through Libya in hopes of reaching Europe.
According to relatives, the two young men left Ghana by land and were believed to have planned a journey through the Sahara Desert before attempting to continue to Italy.
Since their departure, the family says they has received no confirmed communication from either brother.
Speaking to Hellovybes, the brothers’ sister said they only later discovered that Sule and Mumuni had arranged the trip through an individual identified as Mr. Abu, who was reportedly known within the Effia Kuma Bus Stop area.
She explained that family members later attempted to locate the alleged travel agent for answers about the brothers’ whereabouts, but were informed that he had moved away from the area and could no longer be reached.
According to the sister, neither Sule nor Mumuni informed their family before embarking on the journey, making it difficult to determine their exact travel route or final destination.
She added that despite years of searching and making inquiries through friends and contacts living in Europe, the family has been unable to obtain any information about the two brothers.
Despite their prolonged silence, the family is now appealing for information since it has left them deeply distressed particularly their elderly parents.
Their sister told Hellovybes that, their mother and ailing father continue to hope for any news, explaining that even a simple phone call confirming the brothers’ safety would bring them comfort after years of uncertainty.
The family is now appealing to anyone who may have information about Sule or Mumuni to come forward and assist in locating them.
According to the family, the matter has not yet been officially reported to the police. They said they initially held onto hope that the brothers would eventually make contact before deciding on further steps.
As the years have passed without any communication, relatives say they remain hopeful that someone with relevant information will help reunite the family with their loved ones.
