Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has went live on TikTok for the first time following his release from prison.
Kartel, who was imprisoned of murder and sentenced to 13 years in prison, made an appearance on TikTok alongside his wife-to-be namely, Sidem Ozturk.
The couple seemed visibly excited as they shared affectionate moments during the live session with fans on Monday night.
Kartel initially whiles using the video-sharing app faced challenges due to his unfamiliarity with its features, despite having made previous uploads while in prison.
Fortunately, Ozturk was by his side, providing guidance and tutorials on how to use the platform effectively.
The caption on the live video read “My first live #GodIsTheGreatest,” reflecting Kartel’s gratitude for regaining his freedom.
During the session, he expressed heartfelt thanks to his fans, known as Gaza Nation, for their unwavering support throughout his imprisonment.
Before going live, Kartel’s last TikTok post featured a touching reunion with his two older sons, accompanied by a beautiful photo of them together.
Since his release last Wednesday, Kartel has been overwhelmed with support from colleagues and fellow celebrities, who flooded social media with congratulatory messages tagged with the word “Freed.”
Adding to the excitement, Kartel released a new music project just hours after his release, which fans had eagerly anticipated during his time in prison.
Although Kartel has children from a previous relationship, it is Sidem Ozturk, his fiancée, who played a pivotal role in his release.
According to multiple sources, Ozturk and her legal team were instrumental in appealing the verdict, ultimately leading to the court’s decision to dismiss the retrial and set Kartel free.
