Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has officially released the music video for his new song titled “The Comet,” marking his first visual project since being freed from prison over a month ago.
The video, which dropped on Friday, September 13, 2024, features appearances from his son Likkle Addi and wife Sidem, and was directed by Demarco Brown of Chrome Video Entertainment.
“The Comet” talks about Vybz Kartel’s unmatched versatility and accomplishments, even during his incarceration.
In the song, Kartel reflects on his success, boasting about his 2016 hit “Fever,” which went gold and silver on digital platforms.
In a line from the track, he proudly declares, “All in prison mi a mek millions,” showcasing how he continued to thrive despite being behind bars.
Kartel also uses the track to address his dominance in the dancehall scene, claiming that his return will disrupt the careers of other artists.
Despite his extended absence, the 48-year-old artist confidently addresses ongoing controversies and jabs at his critics, stating in one line, “mi been having selkz with their mother whiles in prison,” showing his trademark confidence.

The video was primarily shot in his hometown St. Ann and also features Redboom, a longtime associate as Kartel paid homage to the loyalty and support he received during his challenging times.
