Popular Jamaican dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer has been set free after Jamaica’s Court of Appeal ruled against retrying him and his co-accused for the reported murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Palmer, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John were convicted of the murder way back in September 2011.
Their lawyers made an appeal to the local Court of Appeal in 2020, but their convictions were upheld.

In a summary of the decision, she stated: “Having regard to all considerations the court has taken into account, we conclude that the interest of justice do not require a new trial to be ordered for the appellants, and we therefore make the following order: judgments and verdicts of acquittal are entered in relation to the appellants.”
Vybz Kartel’s release comes after nearly 13 years in prison, which undoubtedly had an enormous effect on his music career and the Jamaican dancehall music fraternity.
