Celebrated Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has officially released the highly anticipated “Dancehall Avengers” lineup for his upcoming Freedom Street Concert.
Vybz Kartel’s Dancehall Avengers list which was announced on Wednesday December 4, 2024 features exclusively Jamaican artists, including Popcaan, Spice, Tommy Lee, Skillibeng and his sons, Likkle Addi and Likkle Vybz etc.
Surprisingly, Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale, despite his global influence in the genre, has been excluded from the list sparking intense discussion among fans.
Fans of the Ghanaian singer have taken to social media to question the omission, with some suggesting that Jamaican artists may not fully recognize his style and influence within the genre.
This controversy comes despite earlier reports that Shatta Wale would perform at the Freedom Street Concert, further fueling speculation about the decision to leave him off the “Dancehall Avengers” list.
Shatta Wale’s snub on the list matters as he had long championed the dancehall movement in Africa and across worldwide.
He has gained recognition for his hits and collaborations with global icons like Beyoncé.
His omission from such a pivotal dancehall event has reignited conversations about how African dancehall artists are perceived by their Jamaican counterparts.

The event celebrates his release from prison after serving 13 years for a murder conviction, a case that has remained a topic of global debate.
