Ex-PSG star Jerome Rothen has slammed Lionel Messi following the club’s exit from the UEFA Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Speaking on French radio station RMC, the former French footballer accused Leo Messi of disappearing in big games when the club badly needs him to perform magic.
According to him, the former Barcelona star was signed and offered a large salary, but he was unable to put all of his efforts into winning a prestigious trophy for the Ligue 1 leaders
“We don’t want him Lionel Messi….He doesn’t want to get involved in this club. He says he’s ‘acclimatised’, but what are you acclimatised to?
“PSG fell at his feet because they thought Messi was going to make us win [the Champions League]. But he doesn’t win us anything.
“You scored 18 goals or 16 assists this year against Angers and Clermont, but in the matches that matter, you disappear.” – he said

Jerome Rothen Rothen made 180 appearances for PSG over a five-year period. He won the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2003 while playing for France’s national team.
