Born on 1927 at Medan’s Benyaade Shrine, Nana Konadu Yiadom III grew up in a small town located at Kwadoso, Kumasi during the restoration of the Asante Confederacy.
Asantehemaa who was raised by her Ashanti parents. She never attended any school during her life time, however she undergoes a rigorous and quality informal education where she learnt a lot of things which were not taught in the classroom.
At the age of two, Asantehemaa was separated from her biological mother while breastfeeding and given to her auntie (mother’s sister), Nana Afia Konadu in Ashanti Ash-Town (now known as New Town).
According to Manhyia Palace.org, she was initiated and went through puberty ceremonies alongside her niece, Nana Abena Ansa, while they were in their early teens.
She was not just a religious leader but also a kind hearted, calm and hardworking woman who likes to accommodate and welcomes everyone’s opinions.
Her chieftaincy status as a queen mother was not only inherited, but also came with a prophecy following Kwaku Firi Bomsomfo, the priest of Kwaku Firi’s prediction on Asantehemaa in the mid-1990s, in which he disclosed that she will undoubtedly become Queen of Asante someday.
Asantehemaa, best known for her achievements and charitable endeavours, was named after a school called Saviour Church Nana Konadu by officials to demonstrate her influence and humanitarian efforts.

In honour of her fifth anniversary as Asantehemaa, she made a generous donation to the mothers at the Mother-Baby Unit (MBU), Paediatric Emergency Care Unit (PICU), and Paediatric Emergency Unit (PEU), as well as paid for all medical bills and expenses for new mothers at the Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Manhyia Government District Hospital.
