AKA To Be Laid To Rest On Saturday February 18

The funeral arrangements for late South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, have been announced by his family.

AKA was shot and killed by unknown gunman in front of YUGO nightclub in Stamford Hill, Durban (South Africa)on February 10, 2023.

According to report the rapper was shot dead alongside his former manager identified as Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

In announcing his funeral details , the rapper’s Family issued a statement to reveal the memorial service stating that it will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 15:00 at Santon Convention Center.

According to the statement, AKA will be laid to rest in a private provincial funeral on Saturday, February 18, 2023 and will also be broadcast live stream via the rapper’s YouTube Channel on the day of memorial.

The family also announced that, they’ve appointed a funeral parlor and said that they would like to thank ‘We as the Forbes family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love we have received over the past few days… Kiernan wasn’t just loved by us as a family but by the Nation, as we’ve seen from the latest fed ones and friends, Industry colleagues, media tributes and the  Megacy’.

After the family announced the funeral arrangements of the late Rapper, some industry colleagues of AKA have vowed that they’re not attending the funeral due to cultural belief and safety protocols.

Cassper Nyovest who had the biggest rivalry with AKA took to social media, pay a tribute to the rapper and his close friend Tibz – “My sincere condolences goes out to Kiernan and Tebello’s families, colleagues and fans. May their souls rest in peace and their legacies be celebrated. May the Good lord be with all of you at this sad time”.

In another tweet, Cassper also revealed after being questioned by a fan if  he will attend the funeral as to which he replied – ‘Unfortunately, I’ll be out of the country for work, but if I was around I would’ve gone. I would’ve gone to the funeral too. No matter how you look at it, me and Kiernan shared a lot of great moments together and he contributed to my industry so I have to pay my respects’.

AKA and Cassper were part of the “hip-hop” team at the Wits Soccer Stadium in Johannesburg in July. They also took part in Big Zulu’s Celebrity Soccer Games.
