Nana Akufo Addo has intervened in the case of eight Chiana senior high school students who were dismissed for insulting the president.
This comes after the 8 SHS students were seen in a viral video slandering Akufo Addo, prompting the GES to react and call for their dismissal.
The students apologized for clemency from the president in order to return to the classroom after being dismissed by Ghana Education Services authorities in a statement dated Wednesday, January 11, 2022 due to their misconduct.
Portions of a statement by GES read, “Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has given approval for the dismissal of eight students with immediate effect to serve as deterrence to other students”.
The statement also described the dismissed students’ actions as unacceptable and an abuse of Ghana’s educational system’s codes of conduct.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Friday, January 13, 2022, the president intervened in the matter after his attention was drawn to the dismissal of the eight final-year students of Chiana Senior High School.
