Investigative journalist and political commentator Kevin Taylor has alleged that President Nana Akufo-Addo is attempting to intervene on behalf of Gifty-Oware Mensah in the ongoing NSA ghost names scandal.
Speaking on his Loud Silence show, Taylor claimed that the former president is seeking an audience with President John Mahama to prevent Oware from facing legal consequences after her reported detention by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
According to Taylor, the Akufo-Addo administration is making every effort to shield Oware from prosecution after her alleged involvement in the National Sports Authority (NSA) ghost names scandal.
“I’ve received Information that Akufo-Addo is attempting to talk to John Mahama on behalf of Gifty Oware not to be jailed over NSA Ghost names” – he said
Taylor warned that any interference in the case could undermine the integrity of the incoming Mahama government, urging the former president to remain firm and allow due process to take its course.
He issued a strong warning to John Mahama, cautioning him against entertaining any attempts by the outgoing administration to manipulate the legal process.
He reminded Mahama that his power was given to him by the Ghanaian people, and failing to uphold justice could lead to public outrage.
“Remember, the power you have today was given to you by the people on the streets, and the same people can take it away from you,” Taylor emphasized.
Kevin Taylor acknowledged that, even though he does not have the authority to dictate Mahama’s decisions however he urged the President to resist any pressure from the Akufo-Addo’s administration.
He stressed that allowing interference could weaken Mahama’s government and potentially lead to its downfall.
The allegations have sparked discussions across political circles, with many awaiting further developments regarding Gifty Oware’s legal situation and the reported intervention efforts
