Akufo-Addo Statue: Meet The Man Who Made The President’s Statue – Akufo-Addo’s statue was made by Genesis Gyesi, a young Ghanaian sculptor. The artist constructed and assembled the figure of President Nana Akufo-Addo, which was launched at the Efia-Nkwanta Region Hospital in Sekondi.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Akufo-Addo unveiled the statue in the Western Region to honour himself as part of his “Thank You” tour, as he serves his final term as President.
Since its unveiling, the three-dimensional art has generated differing points of view regarding not only how it was made but also the reasoning behind its release.
The statue, which depicts a dazzling entirely gold-plated colour, was placed in front of the Sekondi-based healthcare faculty.
Genesis Gyesi appears working on the Akuffo Addo statue throughout the night from start to finish, according to a video that circulated online.
He was seen donning his work gear with a nose mask and wielding a cutting edge machine, focusing on polishing to ensure a smooth and well-finished work.
Despite Gyesi’s efforts, many people praised him, while others chastised Akuffo Addo for commissioning the statue, arguing it wasn’t meant for someone who mismanaged the country by allowing it to sink and root.
