A group of armed men dressed in Military uniform reportedly raided the residence of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, according to reports.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Ken Ofori Atta’s Cantonments home, while the former purser was reportedly out of the country.
The report adds that, despite Offori Atta not witnessing the situation, his family including the wife were present however they were left unharmed following the event.
Channel1 Tv, a Ghanaian television channel, broke the news first, with a social media post shared on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) that shed more light on the incident.
The rationale behind the armed men’s attempt for a surprise attack on the former minister in his home is still unknown.
The men’s identities have not been captured for questioning, as police begin thorough investigations into the matter.
Ken Ofori-Atta is an investment banker by profession, served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in the cabinet of Nana Akufo-Addo from 2017 to 2024.
He was a co-founder of Databank Group, a Ghanaian financial services company, and served executive chairman until 2012, when he resigned.
Ofori-Atta was nominated by President Nana Akufo-Addo on January 10, 2017, and assumed office on January 27, 2017, as Finance Minister.
On February 14, 2024, he was relieved of his position as Ghana’s Finance Minister by Nana Akufo-Addo.
