The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has warned popular musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shatta Wale, for allegedly mocking people with disabilities at a recent performance.
This warning comes after Shatta Wale was seen in a series of videos mocking Stonebwoy, who is known to be ‘disabled’ due to surgery on his leg.
One of his videos that drew the attention of many, including the GSPD, was when the dancehall artist was performing at the Abekah Salla Fest and expressed his displeasure with Stonebwoy, claiming to be “Apakye” after the singer declined to share the stage with him.
“You are a bad person that is why God made you a disabled person, you are a disabled person don’t try and fight an able person” Shatta Wale said during the show.
This sparked a heated online debate among fans who shared their different opinions, with many believing Shatta Wale was demeaning Stonebwoy’s disability.

The organisation also advocated for awareness and education to promote inclusivity and respect for all people, regardless of ability.
“The GSPD takes exception to this statement and ask Shatta Wale to retract the statement, remove such video from social media and apologize to all persons with disability and Ghanaian,” the statement said.

“Using a person’s disability to mock him or her or making derogatory remarks about a person’s disability is a punishable offence by law, refer to disability Act 715.”
The event has triggered an extensive discussion about how Ghanaians treat people with impairments. Emphasises the need for enhanced awareness, education, and inclusivity in all areas.
