Asamoah Gyan has expressed an interest in venturing into politics, stating that his aim is to one day succeed as vice president.
In a recent Onua TV interview with Captain Smart, the ex-Ghanaian football captain said emphatically that he will not turn down an offer from Bawumia to become his running mate.
During the interview, Asamoah Gyan expressed his desire to contribute to the sociopolitical landscape, despite his illustrious football career.
He mentioned that his desire to give back to society has been a driving force through many channels.
He added that, while being in the early phases of his potential transition into politics, he will remain committed to leveraging and pleading positive change for the people of Ghana, particularly the youth and the economy.
Gyan emphasized the importance of extensive preparation and proper strategic planning when embarking on such a career journey.

“The whole Member of Parliament issue began a very long time ago, and people kept on pushing it for about a decade now. Even in my playing days, these offers were always brought up to the table. Even my dad was aware of it. Now I’m not playing and I’m back home and if I want to do it, of course I can do it,” he told Captain Smart.
“Running mate for Bawumia? Hahaha, I haven’t heard any of that, you’re the one saying it haha. I know nothing of the sort. Is that where you guys are taking me now?”
Gyan Asamoah’s interest in becoming vice president has sparked strong reactions from followers across the political spectrum.
Football fans reacting to his probable candidature claims, Gyan’s decision is a refreshing departure from usual political norms because of his legendary status and demonstrated leadership qualities both on and off the field.

However, sceptics have expressed worries about the hurdles involved with politics, emphasising the necessity for time and steady learning for his inherent transition from sports to politics due to its complexity.
Meanwhile, currently serving as the chairman of the Sports Sub-Committee of Dr Bawumia’s manifesto committee, Gyan is expected to play a pivotal role in formulating strategic sports policies for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 elections.
As part of his efforts to promote sports development, Gyan has launched the All Regional Games, an inaugural multi-sport competition aimed at discovering and nurturing sports talents across the country.
A regional tour is slated to commence on Tuesday, April 16, and will run until next month in preparation for the national championships.
