John Dumelo has reportedly emerged victorious in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, defeating the incumbent NPP MP, Ma Lydia Alhassan, in the Greater Accra Region.
According to reports, election which was conducted on December 7, 2024 saw the actor-turned-politician secured wins in 9 out of 10 polling stations, earning him a seat in Parliament for the first time.
This victory comes during his second attempt at contesting the constituency.

John Dumelo declared himself the winner and took to social media to share a photo of the election results, claiming that he had defeated Maa Lydia despite an official announcement from the Electoral Commission.
The results show he received 38,471.00 votes, while Maa Lydia Alhassan received 25,775.00.
This marks the first time the NDC has won a seat in over 24 years, dating back to 2000.

Ma Lydia, who has served seven terms in Parliament under the National Patriotic Party (NPP), has been unseated after years of representation in the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
