President-elect John Dramani Mahama distributed food packages to Assemblies of God Church members as part of his thanksgiving services following his election victory.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, an Ekumfi fruit drink, a product of President Akufo-Addo’s 1D1F initiative, was served during Mahama’s thanksgiving ceremony.
Among the other foods supplied to church members are Jollof and a bottle of water packaged together and branded with Mahama’s image.
John Mahama and his family which included his wife and children attended the church at the Ringway Gospel Assemblies of God Church at Osu.
The event was a celebration of his victory at December 7, 2024 election and moment to express gratitude for the support he received throughout his campaign.
During the election results declaration, the church’s senior pastor and members paid Mahama a visit in his office and congratulated him on his victory.
Their actions indicate the part that they played in his comeback after eight years, as they were greeted with hugs and an exciting moment shared amongst them.
However, the Sunday thanksgiving ceremony thrust Mahama into the limelight as he included Ekumfi Fruit Juice in the packaged goods shared to church members.
Ekumfi Fruit Juice is a Ghanaian product produced and commissioned by President Nana Akufo Addo in 2020 as part of his government’s One-District-One-Factory plan.
Many people reacted positively to Mahama’s move, praising him for his support for locally produced goods despite having yet to be sworn in as President.
Others argue he validated Akufo Addo’s initiative, resulting in his wealth during his tenure in power.
