Rich Love Oduro, a student from Nsein Senior High School, has made a bold statement to explain why her school does not participate in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
In an interview with YouTuber Goshers on High Schools Africa, Rich Love states that NSMQ is a competition for a “show,” but her school prioritises long-term academic growth over public displays of accomplishment.
Richlove stresses that her school, Nsein Senior High, is not concerned with performing for television but rather with educating students who will contribute meaningfully to their communities and Ghana.
Her statement has sparked a huge reaction online as she criticized the NSMQ, claiming its a show primarily meant for entertainment rather than a true reflection of academic achievement.
In response to her claim, several agreed that education should be focused on personal and academic growth rather competition.
Others argue that contests such as the NSMQ motivate students and draw national attention to schools.

Meanwhile, Nsein Senior High, formerly known as the Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School, has never participated in the NSMQ.
