The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has successfully restored electricity supply in Kumasi after pythons were discovered at the Ahodwo substation.
According to reports, the snakes were found around one of the main transformers and were safely removed by engineers during efforts to resolve the outage, which had disrupted power for residents in the area.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions from the public. Some residents have criticized ECG for what they describe as inadequate maintenance and inspection practices, suggesting this may have allowed the reptiles to inhabit the facility.
Others have speculated without confirmed evidence that the presence of the python could have contributed to the power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” experienced in the area.
