Charlie Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale has extended his call to appeal to Grammy Award organizers to put him on the ceremony next year.
In a tweet shared on Saturday, November 9, 2024 on X platform formerly known as Twitter, the singer begged Grammy to nominate him while playfully mocking Stonebwoy.
The request comes after the Recording Academy board and members unveiled the nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony.
Rocky Dawuni was the sole Ghanaian singer on the list, and he received the prestigious prise for the fourth time in his musical career.
This sparked a heated controversy online, with many people expressing their displeasure with Grammy for snubbing Ghanaian artists while constantly letting Nigerian artists dominate.
Others scolded Ghanaian musicians, notably Stonebwoy, for failing to appear despite his quest for Grammy consideration.
However, in response to the news that no Ghanaian artists were on the list, with the exception of Rocky Dawuni, Shatta Wale openly sought Grammy to nominate him, indicating how it had been his top priority for years.
He then urged his fans to congratulate him despite not grabbing a slot in any of this year’s awards.
“Congrats to me too ,but dem no nominate me ooo…please Grammy next year remember me wa” — Shatta Wale tweeted, adding a laughing emoji to his appeal.
