Shatta Wale Joins Boomplay Golden Club With 100 Million Streams

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale is the latest artist to join the prestigious Golden Club of Africa’s largest music streaming and download platform, Boomplay.

Shatta Wale joins Boomplay’s Golden Club for reaching and surpassing a milestone of 100 million streams.

He becomes the third Ghanaian artist to achieve this feat, that after Black Sherif and Sarkodie, and joins the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Diamond Platinumz, Fireboy DML, Rayvanny, Omah Lay, and others.


Shatta Wale, formerly known as Bandana, burst onto the Ghanaian music scene with the hit single “Moko Hoo” in 2004. After the success of the single, he would go on hiatus for over 8 years while building a large underground following.

Shatta Wale later re-emerged in 2012 and has since become a leading force in the Ghanaian music scene as well as a celebrated African music icon.

With hit records including “Dancehall King”, “My Level”, “Ayoo”, “On God”, “JJC”, among others and stellar collaboration with Beyonce on her “Lion King” album, Shatta Wale is gearing up to release his “Gift of God”album after two years of building fans’ anticipation. Shatta Wale was the second most streamed male artist in Ghana during Boomplay’s 2022 Recap.

However, Boomplay took to their social media platform to congratulate Shatta Wale on his new milestone on the App and wrote: It’s a big win for Shatta Movement !!! Congratulations to the president and 1 Don, @shattawalenima, on achieving over 100M streams on Boomplay Paaaa paaa paaaa!!!
