The traditional executioners in Asante Kingdom have said that a human head will be used to bury the late Asante Mampong Chief, Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II.
The headsmen revealed this shocking revelation in a video obtained by Hellovybes on Twitter now known as X while at the deceased leader’s funeral grounds.
The executioners explained why the ritual must be performed at the Mamponghene’s cremation, claiming that it is in accordance with long-standing custom and old Ashanti tradition, as well as a sign of symbolism.
They also issued a stern warning to all natives and travellers attending the funeral rites to execute extreme caution.
The executioner’s words reflect a time-honoured but chilling tradition that predates the 20th century mainly the one that involves burying a deceased chief with a human head.
Although the open practice of such rites has been restricted in recent years by the spread of Christianity and modern legal systems, sentiments expressed indicate that some traditional circles still see great significance in vestiges of these customs.
As a result, residents and visitors are being strongly advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movement, especially during the night of the burial.
