A video has appeared online depicting Chairman Wontumi, an Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging Ghana’s youth to vote for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential election.
In the footage, Chairman Wontumi, whose real name is Bernard Antwi Boasia, could be seen rallying the youths to embrace Bawumia and his new policies.
He emphasizes that, choosing Bawumia will make them access higher education with their only Ghana Cards and receive employment with monthly salary of GHC8,000 following graduation.
Chairman Wontumi addresses the young individuals that under a Bawumia administration, the national identification card, the Ghana Card, would simplify the procedure for obtaining higher education.
He went further and claim that, the graduates could quickly secure jobs that offer a monthly salary of GHS8,000 along with a structured department scheme to cover their tuition fees through deductions from their wages.

In response to the video, many Ghanaians have questioned and mocked the promises as they labeled them as fake after his comments sparked a heated discussion online.
The critics claims that, the notion of sufficient well-paid positions is not feasible, particularly given the country’s present economic difficulties.
