Christian Atsu‘s mortal remains has arrived in Ghana-Accra at Kotoka International Airport on Sunday at 8 p.m.
Earlier on Sunday, February 19, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration issued a statement stating that Atsu’s body would be delivered to the family.
The deceased’s family had a family gathering today ready to welcome the body in Ghana sent by Hatayspor Club officials from Turkey.
Tears flowed at the gathering, indicating how deeply the bereaved family was saddened by the painful departure of their beloved son.

However, the body of late Christian Atsu was received by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who replaced Nana Akuffo Addo, who is currently in Germany for an important deliberate meeting at the Munich Security Conference.
Dr Bawumia said, the state will be fully involved in providing a befitting burial for Christain Atsu during the handling over.
The Military clergymen were seen holding the coffin draped with National flag while placing it in the Center and prayers were being offered to the body to pay it final respects.
According to report, the body of former Ghanaian footballer will be transported to 37 Military Hospital in Accra before it can officially handle over to the family for the burial and memorial services.

Meanwhile, Christian Atsu was only 31 years old and had a successful career both locally and internationally. He has previously played for FC Porto, Vitesse, Everton, Newcastle United, and, most recently, Hatayspor in Turkey.
His untimely and tragic death has sent shockwaves throughout Ghana and beyond, with many expressing condolences and sharing memories of the player.

On Saturday, Atsu was confirmed dead after being trapped under rubble for 12 days following the massive 7.8 earthquake that rocked in Turkey and Syria.
