The Ministry of Roads and Highways has officially announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls as part of the government’s strategy to generate revenue for road maintenance and infrastructure development.
According to statement issued by the ministry on Thursday February 6, 2025, the new approach will feature a technologically-driven toll collection system unlike the previous manual tolling system.
It was revealed in the statement that, the government’s move of reintroductions the new toll is to aim at improving efficiency, reducing congestion, and ensuring transparency.
The Ministry has assured the public that the system will be modern, automated, and user-friendly, addressing the challenges associated with the old tolling method.
