Court Fines Alleged NPP Thugs Who Stormed UTV with GHS38,400 - Reports

The Achimota District Court has fined the alleged 16 NPP thugs who invaded the studios of UTV.

This action follows their disruption of the live broadcast of the United Showbiz program on October 7, 2023.

The group, believed to be affiliated with the National Patriotic Party (NPP), entered the studios with hostile intentions, causing a chaotic scene due to their unfavorable political interests for the NPP party.

This incident gained significant attention, as questions arose about the involvement of Ernest Owusu-Bempah, who serves as the Head of Corporate Communications at the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) in the disruption.

The police later issued a statement announcing the arrest of these alleged NPP thugs and urged the public to investigate the matter.

However, reports on Monday, October 16, reveal that the 16 NPP thugs have been fined GHS38,400 by His Worship Prince Osei Owusu, the presiding Judge at the Achimota District Court.
