Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, has lost his bid to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate in the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region.
He was defeated in the NPP’s orphan constituency parliamentary elections held on Saturday, December 2.
Okraku-Mantey’s ambitions were dashed after garnering 136 votes, falling short to Ida Adwoa Asiedu, the winning candidate who received 410 votes.
Ernest Addo and Kingsley Boateng Adomah, the other candidates, received 4 and 3 votes, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Adentan Constituency, Akosua Manu (Kozie), Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Youth Authority, emerged as the parliamentary candidate after obtaining 814 votes.

Kwasi Obeng Fosu, her closest competitor, trailed behind with 638 votes, while Kwame Obimpeh Winfred Nartey got 18 votes, according to report by 3news.com
Mark Okraku-Mantey best known in the music industry, filed his candidature form in August, garnering strong support from a huge crowd that included party executives and members.
Despite the fervent backing from his supporters, Okraku-Mantey, in a display of sportsmanship, acknowledged defeat, putting an end to his MP aspirations with the NPP.
