Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been declared fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP)following his failure to appear for an investigation related to the National Cathedral saga.
The declaration was made during a press conference held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the OSP headquarters.
According to officials, Ofori-Atta, who is currently travelled to the United States, did not attend the scheduled meeting and has refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Law enforcement authorities revealed that Ofori-Atta’s representatives informed them two days prior that he had traveled to the U.S. for medical treatment.
However, the OSP emphasized that despite his absence, legal proceedings will continue, and he remains under investigation.
The OSP has assured the public that due process will be followed, and Ofori-Atta’s status as a wanted person will not hinder their pursuit of justice.
Authorities are expected to take further actions to ensure he responds to the allegations upon his return.

As Finance Minister under President Akufo-Addo, Ofori-Atta authorized the release of state fundsfor the project, despite initial assurances that it would be privately funded.
Reports later surfaced suggesting a lack of parliamentary approval for some payments, raising legal and ethical questions.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) launched an investigation into the financial dealings of the project, seeking Ofori-Atta’s response.
However, after failing to appear for questioning, the OSP declared him wanted further escalating the controversy.
This follows the news report of armed men after raiding Ken Ofori Atta’s residence however he was not found.
