Viral photos of an Asamankese Catholic priest and his members praying alongside Muslims on Eid day has warmed the hearts of netizens.
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, the Ghanaian Muslim community ended their 30-day Ramadan fasting period with prayers across the country’s stadiums and parks.
The day, which was marked mainly by prayers and other activities, gave an opportunity for the Assistant Parish Priest of the Catholic Church in Asamankese to share love with his Muslim brothers and sisters while also affirming the country’s religious tolerance.
Reverend Father Martin Delali Attitson and some of his parishioners joined the Asamkese Muslim community to mark the end of Ramadan.
Pictures from the event, which hellovybes discovered on the Ghanaweb news website, show how the priest and the Muslim community interacted and smiled during the celebration.
In one of the pictures, Fr Attitson can be seen taking part in Eid-ul-Fitr prayers with the Muslims, where he can be seen following the assembly (Jamaat) while placing his forehead on the ground during the prayers (Salaat).
In reacting to this, some social media users who have commented on the photos have praised the priest, while some who claim to know him say that such behaviour is typical of him.
