Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has candidly spoken about the criticism he believes he faces within the entertainment industry, saying he receives more hate than many of his colleagues despite remaining focused on his career and the growth of Ghanaian music.

The award-winning artiste made the remarks during a TikTok Live session hosted by BHIM fan Yung Barrista, where he reflected on how he deals with negativity, public criticism, and online attacks.

“To be fair, I get the most hate in this industry.” — Stonebwoy

The live session quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion across social media platforms including Twitter (X), Instagram, and TikTok.

According to Stonebwoy, he has intentionally chosen not to respond to every criticism directed at him, explaining that his silence should not be mistaken for an inability to defend himself.

“When I’m not saying anything, it doesn’t mean I can’t speak. I usually stay calm because I understand what’s happening. I want people to understand the situation before I respond.”

The musician explained that he often takes time before reacting because he prefers to understand the situation rather than respond emotionally.

He added that when he eventually addresses an issue, he wants his comments to help people understand what is happening instead of creating further division.

Stonebwoy’s comments come amid ongoing industry rivalry discussions, particularly with fellow dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

The two have had a long-standing feud that has dominated Ghanaian entertainment headlines for years.

Stonebwoy noted that he remains committed to promoting unity and contributing positively to the growth of Ghana’s creative sector.

“I just want to make my nation great and our people great. If anyone wants the same, then we should all be on the same page.”

The musician stressed that his ultimate goal is to see both the country and its entertainment industry thrive.

Stonebwoy’s remarks have since generated widespread discussion on social media, with fans and entertainment followers sharing differing opinions.

Stonebwoy’s supporters argue that their idol  has faced unfair criticism throughout his career adding that his international achievements deserve more recognition highlighting that the  industry often undermines his contributions

Critics contend that other artistes face similar or greater scrutiny while His responses to criticism sometimes fuel the fire claiming that the “most hate” claim is exaggerated.

Despite the criticism, Stonebwoy remains one of Ghana’s most internationally recognized artistes.

His achievements include BET Award -Best International Act (2015), MOBI Awards -Best African Act (2015), TGMA (2015-2025), Album of the Year – 5th Dimension (2023), Sold-out International Tours (2022-2026).

Stonebwoy’s global reach has helped put Ghanaian music on the world stage, collaborating with international acts including Kenny Rogers, Beenie Man, and Damian Marley.

Stonebwoy’s candid remarks have once again put the spotlight on Ghana’s entertainment industry dynamics. Whether or not he truly faces “the most hate,” his willingness to speak openly about the challenges of fame is a reminder of the mental toll that public life can take.

What remains clear is Stonebwoy’s unwavering commitment to his craft and to Ghana. His focus on unity and growth, even amid criticism, sets an example for young artistes navigating similar challenges.
