The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allegedly arrested Ghanaian popular businessman Kofi Boat in Accra following significant security operations in the country.

Kofi Boat, who is best known to be the “Godfather” of dancehall artist Shatta Wale was picked up by a magistrate and the FBI on Friday, June 15, 2025, and other two game boys in connection with fraud-related issues.

Among the others apprehended by American intelligence and security was one guy identified as Agony, a popular richy man suspected of being an accomplice.

The court accused Kofi Boat of conspiracy to conduct wire fraud, which resulted in his extradition by Interpol and the FBI for a $100 million scam.

He has also been charged with money laundering in relation with a criminal company operating out of Ghana.

Kofi Boat’s detention originated from the 2023 indiction, which was issued by the US Department of State to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

According to a Snapchat post obtained by Instagram blogger “Aba the Great,” the businessman collapsed at a police hospital.

Prior to his confinement, the wealthy entrepreneur was said to have initially complaining of illness.

On June 16, 2025, a magistrate in Accra remanded Kofi Boat to police detention alongside the three others for further legal processes.

In a widely circulated photo, Kofi Boat is seen handcuffed by officials at the police hospital, while a legal team surrounds him.
