The University of Ghana has officially denied the authenticity of a circulating letter allegedly issued to verify the academic credentials of Malik Basintale.

According to a public disclaimer signed by Dr. Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, the document in question is a forgery and should be disregarded by the public.

The forged letter, dated May 27, 2025, claims to be authored by the University’s Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah. It was allegedly addressed to the Secretary of the Civil Service Council with the subject line:
“RE: Request for Verification of Degree – Malik Basintale.”

However, the University of Ghana clarified in its official statement that:

“The said letter is a forgery and neither the Registrar nor any other officer of the University has received, processed, or responded to any such request.”

University Urges Public to Disregard Fake News

The disclaimer emphasizes that the University has not verified or responded to any degree verification requests concerning Malik Basintale and urges the public to disregard the misleading letter currently making rounds on social media.

This announcement is aimed at correcting misinformation and preventing the spread of fake news regarding the credentials of public figures.
