“Why were you keeping millions at home in this hard economy” – Mahama reacts to Cecilia Dapaah’s $1m home theft

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has reacted to the revelation of two house helps broke into minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s home and stole millions of dollars and Cedis.

The alleged stolen funds, by two ladies identified as Patience and Sarah amounting to millions of dollars and Ghana Cedis, have left Ghanaians stunned with some individuals expressing their concerns about the theft incident.

Many were questioning the need for such vast sums of money in a private residence, especially when the government faces challenges in paying its workers and fulfilling its commitments.

However, among those who have publicly reacted to the
news is former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

He expressed his shock and concern about the magnitude of cash stolen from the residence of Minister Cecilia Dapaah.

“$1m + €300k and millions of GHS in a Ghanaian Minister’s home? Scandalous!! Even if genuinely acquired, why keep millions of hard currency at home? Will @NAkufoAddo ever set a good example for public office holders in his administration?” – He wrote

Among the reactions from netizens, one point of contention revolves around the discovery of a substantial sum of money is being “kept under a pillow of someone’s room”.

Controversial Blogger and critique, Albert popularly known as Bongo Ideas also shared his frustrations and accused the siting president Nana Akufo and his veep Dr Bawumia to be thieves
